Tao .............".Supreme Reality "

This is the most fundamental principle in all Taoist Philosophy. It means "the Way" the Path, the way the universe operates,the path of the heart,the One, the Mother of all things, and much more.

Te............"the pure manifestation of Tao in actual living"

The great power that comes from living the Tao or letting the Tao live us.A vitality or strength (virtue) that comes in living in tune with the Tao.

Wu-Wei.........."non-action","grace in living"

It is action without the sense of doer-ship;it is egoless action,or taking no unatural or forced action,action without attachment to its fruits.

Chung......"one's center"

Also implies "ones own nature", "the inner path","that which dwells within the heart""the path of truth","inner essence"

Wai ch'i shen........"rejects himself"

The Sage rejects the limited identification with his body and the small sense of self, and identifies himself with the universe.this is the state of unity,whereby the sage sees his own Self in everyone and everyone else as his own Self

Wu chih....... "the state of a beginner", innocence,humility

It is a state in which one is not burdened,limited,or closed off to his true nature by his own knowledge.Zen calls this state "beginners mind".It is a state of unlimited possibilities and infinite potential.

Hsi ch'ang.........."Folling the Eternal Light"

Returning to the nature of one's origin,being clothed with immortality,Resorting to the always-so

Shih wei hsuan t'ung......."profound identification"

"Mystic Unity","Primal Oneness",or "Original Oneness

Fan......."return"

It is the primal impluse that drives a person to return to his own source, his own perfection, his own Self
